Volunteer at Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank

Volunteer at the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank

In addition to our efforts at the BOMA Holiday Party each year to raise money to help support the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank we are excited to announce a volunteer opportunity with them!

What: Volunteers assist in inspecting, sorting and repacking donated and purchased groceries in the Food Bank’s Warehouse. The Food Banks counts on volunteers to help distribute 2.2 million pounds of groceries per month, so please join your fellow BOMA Members and some Board Members to help the Food Bank and give back to the Pittsburgh community!

When: Friday October 19th 8:30AM - NOON

Registration Deadline: Monday October 15th

Where: Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Duquesne Warehouse

BOMA Pgh Community Food Bank Sign Up. Once you register a calendar invite will follow and additional instructions will be sent to all participants after the registration deadline. **Prior to registering please review the Guidelines & FAQs provided by the Food Bank Below to ensure you are able to attend**.

Guidelines & FAQs:

• What to Wear: Closed toe shoes are required, comfortable clothing or “clothing that you would wear to do work in house” is recommended and as far as temperature it is weather dependent because it is a large space that isn’t always fully heated or cooled.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for 2 or more consecutive hours (breaks provided) and be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs.
Not all volunteers will have to lift this weight and those that do will not have to do it the entire time and there are less physically intense spots on the repack line but these are the guidelines provided by the Food Bank so come prepare to do some work!
