Government Affairs Committee

Purpose

The Government Affairs Committee, in coordination with BOMA International, is the advocate for the industry and seeks to interact with the elected officials and staff who make the laws that affect our businesses. Among the issues of concern are:  Building Codes & Standards; Energy & the Environment; Tax & Finance; Local Laws & Restrictions and other issues as they arise.

Members, working with BOMA Pittsburgh's Government Affairs Adviser, regularly become involved in the legislative process and seek to establish relationship with the officials who write and vote on these laws and regulations.

Critical issues included extending the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), extending the 15-year Leasehold Improvement depreciation timeframe and extending tax incentives for energy efficient improvements. Meetings were held with members of Congress, including: Senators Toomey and Casey and Representatives Kelly, Murphy, Rothfus and Doyle
